Microsoft released a free pdf e-book that helps you make your Vista computer faster, or more responsive. The hardware recommendation is to have at least 2GB of RAM and a CPU with speed greater than 2GHZ.
From the recommendations in the booklet I don’t like the advice of putting your computer in sleep mode. Personally I prefer to have a clean memory each time my computer starts.
